Surfing lessons Austrailian style.

<a href=”

For a board choice Chose a board with out to advanced bottom foiling for a first board.
A rounded pin tail is probably a good choice for southern California. All kneelo’s have enough planing surface to carry you through flat spots The biggest issue is to get a board with the right rocker for our local waves. A fish also could be a good board to start with however watch the bottom foiling.
Surfing schools teach the cross and popping strait to your feet as the best way to get up on your board however a modified method popping up to your knees might work well. Trial and error and a lot of practice will get you the right combination.

Where to go after your first lessons!!

After you start getting decent on a kneelo it is time to start riding any kneelo that you can get your hands on.
Beg and borrow your  friends boards to learn what you like and don’t like in a knee board.
Compare the bottom contoures fin placement rocker  nose and tail shapes of boards to get a good picture of what works for you.
When you decide to add to your quiver you will know what to ask fore of your shaper to get a board that reely works for you.
It is a joy when you finally get that magic board. If you decide to go on to start shaping your own boards you will have some defenet ideas as to what you want to shape.
Check out the Parkes web site to check out some nice kneeboards.

Soft top kneeboards how to.

Smallish surf beater and fish shaped soft tops can make the perfect starter kneeboard. Simple. All you have to do is buy some hole block off plugs a fin square a sharpie or pencil and a drill.
Remove the fins from the board. Lay out with the fin tool new sites to re mount the fins about 7″ to 10″ inches up the rails just tucked under where your ankles sit on your board when in trim on a wave. If you live in Hawaii or any place with dteap powerful waves mount the fins 24″ up.
You might also want to invest in a cove top for the knees.
