Here is a good video on how to start knelo surfing by King Waka.
For a board choice Chose a board with out to advanced bottom foiling for a first board.
A rounded pin tail is probably a good choice for southern California. All kneelo's have enough planing surface to carry you through flat spots The biggest issue is to get a board with the right rocker for our local waves. A fish also could be a good board to start with however watch the bottom foiling.
Surfing schools teach the cross and popping strait to your feet as the best way to get up on your board however a modified method popping up to your knees might work well. Trial and error and a lot of practice will get you the right combination.

Check out my Kneelo Tribalism T shirts in my Zazzle store

http://www.zazzle.com/surfzone
My aim with this blog is to explore the topics of the tribal extended family aspect of surfing where applicable.
Unique theories and designs of of beat surf craft.
I might post some templates and shaping ideas.
I would like to figure out a good design to start surfing on for a Kneelo.
A couple of Paipo designs could be cool to.
I am considering starting a club to get more surfers back in to the water and socializing.
I thought each club could divided in to tribes named after our favorite surf breaks to reflect the larger surfing nation at large.

Welcome all surfers to the kneelo tribe.  We are a smaller subset of the surfing tribe in general. We except all surfers with an open mind and are willing to try knee surfing or legless surfing. We all share the same ocean and the quest for the perfect wave.
We also except our cousins the Paipo riding tribesmen.
